FORT COLLINS, Colorado- Colorado State will play back-to-back games this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, beginning Friday night against Mercer. The Rams end the weekend against Auburn on Saturday. Both games will be streamed on FloHoops as well as radio on Power 102.9 and the Varsity Network app.

Senior Megan Boyd Hot Hands recently, currently No. 10 in the nation behind archery, had 60 percent. Destiny Thurman follows at a 53.3 clip that is No. 24 in the country. The Rams as a whole lead all teams shooting 51.1 percent from downtown.


Colorado State doesn’t turn the ball around much, but it does hand out assists. The Rams enter the nation’s premier weekend on assist/turnover radio at 2:46 p.m. McKenna Hofschild is No. 2 in the country with a 9.00 mark and has only four turnovers in four contests. Last season, she finished the year ranked No. 5 in the nation with a ratio of 3.00.

Make it a double

Senior McKenna Hofschild recorded her first double-double of the season against Montana last week, dropping 18 points and giving out 11 assists. She created double-digit chances before half-time and secured the double-double in the third quarter. It was her fifth double-double of her career and first of the season, although she was close in the opener against BYU with 18 points and nine assists.

Weekly Honors

After the season opening week McKenna Hofschild and Hanna Ronsiek received weekly Mountain West awards. Hofschild received her fifth career award after being named Player of the Week, while Ronsiek was named Rookie of the Week for the first time.

Being benched – the good kind

Colorado State kicked off the 2022-23 season last Tuesday and exploded in the second half with a 47-23 win over BYU to earn an 82-62 win. The Rams’ bench did much of the heavy lifting — they scored 40 points, almost the total number of starters the Cougars had. CSU trailed 39-35 at the half but flipped a switch in the second, hitting 8-of-12 from three to break the opener wide open. Cailyn Crocker led the benchers with 17 points — the second-highest on the team behind McKenna Hofschild at 18

The Rams are returning seven from the 2021-22 roster, including three starters with McKenna Hofschild, Kendyll Kinzer and Petra Farcas. sydney mech and Kali Clark also recorded a start a season ago. Hofschild is returning for her senior season after leading the Rams and Mountain West by 557 points in scoring. She also averaged 16.9 points per game and dished out 6.5 assists per game – No. 2 and No. 1 in the league, respectively.

Colorado State welcomed five transfers and four newcomers to the team during the offseason, bringing the total of new additions to nine. include transfers Kyya Dorroh (Mizzou), Destiny Thurman (UTEP), Joseana Vaz (Casper College) Cailyn Crocker (cal) and Megan Boyd (Denver).

Review 2021-22

Colorado State finished the 2021-22 season with a 21-12 overall record, including a 9-9 mark in the Mountain West game. The Rams made a run in the conference tournament, advancing through the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds to reach the championship game. CSU returned to the postseason, appearing in the WNIT and facing Portland State, which suffered a loss.

Mercer goes into Friday’s game 2-1 after back-to-back wins at Middle Tennessee and Georgia Southwestern State. The Tigers opened the season against the Blue Raiders and clinched a 76-75 win when Summah Evans hit a buzzer beater. Mercer’s only loss was at Wake Forest last week, 70-45. Amoria Neal-Tysor leads the team with an average of 16.3 points per game, followed by Erin Houpt with 10.7 points. Jaron Dougherty and Brittany Reeves handle the color, pulling down 6.3 and 6.0 rebounds per game, respectively.

Auburn starts the weekend 3-1 and meets Indiana on Friday night before taking on Colorado State on Saturday. The two games are Auburn, Ala.’s first away games and will be the only ones the Tigers will play away from their court on the non-conference schedule. Aicha Coulibaly leads Auburn with an average of 18.8 points per game, nearly doubling her teammates. Coulibaly also handles the glass, grabbing a team-high of 7.3 boards per game.

series history

Colorado State meets both Mercer and Auburn for the first time in program history. The Rams are also playing against an SEC team for the third time since joining the Mountain West. CSU faced Mississippi State for the first time earlier this season and an SEC enemy for the second time since 1999.
